A friend of mine, through my Re-Enactment Hobby, had a house fire this morning.  The house was totally consumed; he got his children out while only sustaining minor injuries.

His wife’s body was not recovered until after the fire was out.

Needless to say - disregard the last.  My plans have changed.

Of being the family Patriarch is that for Christmas, they come home.

Tonight I will be delivering packages with the clan to shut ins, and such.  Presents - food.  I have been able again this year to already include some divorced fathers who are struggling so they have a Christmas to give to their kids;  and then we will be at Midnight Mass, after which I will have my annual snort of 40 year old MacCallan and settle in for a long winter’s nap.

Now, if I get up early, we’ll have the smell of coffee and warming cinnamon rolls, with pancakes and bacon.  If my son is first up, I will wake up retching to the smell of him nuking one of his vile breakfast burritos.  (Note to self - hide the nasty things tonight in the bottom of the chest freezer).  If I smell coffee, it’ll be instant - he’s just not a morning person and doesn’t make coffee until he doesn’t need coffee. If my daughter gets up and down here early, it’ll be some flavored coffee (Pretty girly, T) .  If God is good, he’ll inspire her to stop and the bakery tonight and have something warming.  If God decides to be a mean bastard, she’ll have something “healthy” for me, and squawk as I make bacon about my trigylcerides, cholesterol and other such concerns.  I will respond as usual with a recitation that my blood pressure is better than hers, and she need not fear me going early - Heaven doesn’t want me, and Hell is afraid I will take over.  My son in law will smile smugly and fly under the radar.  If she is chirping at me, he’ll be stuffing his face with my bacon and having a morning’s peace.

Then to presents.  All the kids are getting stockings full of stuff.  I keep a little box in my room, and through the year I toss stuff into it.  Obscure candy that is hard to find these days, knick-knacks, gag-gifts.  I have threatened little Gonz- all 6′6″ of him - with coal all year.  I have a burlap stocking, dyed red, filled with 50 pounds of it.  I’ve another ton of it, just delivered, under a tarp in the back near his forge, since he’s decided to study some blacksmithing.  Merry Christmas, boyo.  I also have got him a set of farrier’s tools, and a real anvil.  You’ll have to get your own bar stock, boy.

The Gonzette has opined for a couple years that she used to always want a gun and holster set, and her mom would never get her one while she was growing up - so much for her mother’s feminist “non-gender-stereotypes” screed.  Of course, the other box has a 9mm Glock in it, and 500 rounds, plus a membership at the range for the year.

Since neither of my blood children will drink a civilized drink, I have three bottles of Single Malt for her husband - one Jameson’s Irish Whiskey, one Laphroig 15, and one Glenmorangie 18.  I also put his after shave - Axe (blek!) in one of my Lagerfeld boxes, just to piss off the Gonzette - he’s forbidden to wear it since “it makes you smell like Dad, and that’s just creepy.”

I am such an evil bastard.

And then there is the usual collection of clothing, etc.

The rounds will be made later - I have a dozen cases of homebrew already loaded for various drop offs, and the caravan will wend it’s way to the son-in-law’s parent’s house, a few friends, and eventually tomorrow afternoon to evening to the city and my parents.  Big dinner.  More presents.  Brother, neices.  Then home.

A couple more snorts with the kids, and then I am to bed.

Recently a couple major feminist bloggers ran around the “How much prison time would you give a woman who had an abortion?” question.

Good one. How about answering a couple of mine (Since, “Of course, that is wrong, but…”):

1) What penalty should a woman who makes a false accusation of rape recieve?

2) What penalty should a woman who makes a false accusation of Domestic violence/child abuse/child molestation in order to win advantage in a divorce/custody proceeding recieve?

3) Given that a woman knows she is sleeping with multiple men, does she have a duty to inform a putative father of that if she turns up pregnant? If no, why not?

3a) Also, if no, since she is aware that it is possible that more than one man may be the father of a baby, how is it not fraud if she positively identifies him as the father, and does not tell the “whole truth?”

4) If yes, given that she is aware that more than one man may be the father of a baby, if she identifies a man as a father, and it turns out he isn’t, this is fraud - what penalty should she recieve for committing fraud?

5) Is biology or “acting like a father” the ultimate determinate of paternity?

5a) If Biology, how do we justify forcing men who are victims of paternity fraud to continue to pay child support?

5b) If “acting like a father” how do we justify forcing biological fathers who have never acted like a father to pay child support?

5c) If your answer is “it depends” chances are “The good of the child” will be brought up. Does your “What the child needs” intersect with “what makes it easy on Mommy?”

I’m not really expect ing any feminists to actually answer any of these, but are posted here to demonstrate that they, too, are chicken.

So, a ten year old girl was cuffed and arrested for a FELONY for bringing a knife in to cut her food.

I pick up the Indianapolis Star this morning.  The editorial pages - as they have been for what it seems like weeks now - are still hand-wringing over a child in the custody of DCS who died due to government incompetance.

I am not going to get all cold-blooded and talk about how sick I am of hearing about it - though the hand wringing and repition of the same old tired cliches is tiresome.  What I am going to ask is “What have we learned?”  How many children have died as a result of this agency?  How many “reforms” have we had?

Big government does not work.  Repeat, does not work, does not work, does not work.  Only a fuckin’ idiot keeps doing the same thing over and over and expects a different result.  Welfare?  Failure.  Government medicine? Failure.  Government schools? Abject failure.  The list is endless.  We are tossing more money down ratholes thinking that the answer is to create some agency, some commission, enact some law, write a new set of regulations - and what happens over and over and over again?

The government touches it - most the money gets ate up in “administrative” costs - and it turns to a distant, impersonal monster that does at best a half assed job of assisting a fraction of the people it was intended for.

It’s time to actually try somethiong different besides making another huge behemoth of an agency, or issuing more regulations.  Change the way you do business.

In what seems to be a “page 3″ news story, a California Dioces in the Episcopal Church has voted to secede from that august body; IMO opinion this news story is not being given the gravitas that it deserves.  Add to this that there are at least four other dioceses with similar works in progress.

What is happening, in our lifetimes, is the beginning of a full blown schism in a major denomination on the world scene.  This will NOT be confined to the United States.  This is a developing thing, and it will likely take years for sides to be taken, let alone the dust to clear.

And this is important not merely in a religious, but a political sense as well as relates to secular politics.  People may think that nothing which happens in the religious world impacts the secular, especially here in the US, but such things are far from true.  It’s going to impact people interdenominationally.   It is going to impact - and possibly break - the Global Anglican Communion.

The implications are staggering.  This is a thing which might very well touch off the tensions between revisionist and Orthodox Christianity.

Stay tuned and watch this closely.  It is so far being given very short shrift, but this may change dramatically in the coming months.

I am going to weigh in on this, once, and once only.

You, as a parent, are responsible for your kids.  Period.  No discussion.

If you know your kids are fucking around, creating false websites, and fucking with someone, it is up to you as a parent to fucking well do something about it.  If not, you are giving your consent and teaching your children to be lying mind-fuckers.

No excuses.  Lori Drew should have nipped it in the bud the minute she found out about it.  She should have notified MySpace, notified the Maiers, suspended her kids access to the internet, forbade them to hang around the other kids involved or communicate with them in any way AT LEAST until the situation was over.  And she should have dragged her fucking brats by their fucking ears down the block and get down on their knees and beg Megan’s forgiveness at high noon.

She did none of these.

Lori Drew - you are responsible.  And you are a fucking murderess.
