  • Is the G.O.P. up to the challenge?

    June 16th, 2009 · No Comments

Or better yet, is there a home for real conservatism in the Republican party?

Peggy Noonan, Kathleen Parker, Chris Buckley - I would cordially invite all these asshats to kiss my ass.

I remember meeting Ronaldus Magnus - twice - during his campaigns.  I was a staunch Republican in those days.  Ronald Reagan embodied everything that I felt made America great.  He made one mistake, though - one great mistake.

    George Herbert Walker Bush.

Ronald Reagan put him in the Veep slot in an attempt to woo the moderate Republicans, the RINOs.  The country-club, Rockefeller Republicans.  And frankly, they are what the Democrats accuse them of being.  This is why democrat attacks so often hit the mark.

Have you ever noticed the pattern about when conservatives lose?  They lose when Party Apparatchiks (A) get annoyed when their Moderate, right-wing liberal RINO candidate of choice gets rejected by the voters in a primary in favor of an “upstart” so they de-fund his campaign, or (B) when the same Apparatchiks decide to offer up as a sacrificial lamb the biggest fringe conservative loon they can find in a heavily democrat race.  All in an attempt to say “See - that kind of stuff can’t win!”

Problem is, when you get a well funded, thoughtful, and principled conservative - say, a Mike Pence - running in a race, they never seem to lose.

Over the past six elections the RNC is batting .500.  And it’s only the idiocy of Democrats which has allowed them even that.  Bush I only won his election by riding Reagan’s coat-tails, and when he disengaged from Reagan’s message, he got his head handed to him.  Bush II won his first term by pandering to the right, and promptly tacked left.  Conservative enthusiasm declined sharply after that.

Bush, Bush, Dole, Bush, Bush, McCain - which of those are really strong, solid conservatives?

Quayle, Quayle, Kemp, Cheney, Cheney, Palin - which ones of them are?

Look, I shouldn’t have to connect the dots for you.  It’s right fucking there.  If you are a conservative, you are wooed as a voter and lionized as “the base” during an election, and then promptly put in political Coventry once the election is over.

It’s time for a Night of the Long Knives.

I don’t care if it means two terms of Teh Messiah, it is high time to demand of the Republicans that the RINO’s sit down and shut the fuck up after twenty-five years of fucking up the brand, and install a conservative bridge crew for the Starship GOP.  Captain, XO, Helmsman, Navigator- the whole works.  No more tokenism.  Either the Republicans are a conservative party - or they are not.

If not, it is time to pick up the cookies and go elsewhere.

I am glad Arlen Sphincter is gone.  One down, and a few more to go.  Time to take out the trash.
